RE Day - UNICEF Rights of the Child and World Humanist Day
Tuesday 21st June 2022 was World Humanist Day. Our Collective Worship focused on World Humanist Day and each class looked at UNICEF Rights of the Child.
Class 1 explored UNICEF’s Article 15: Freedom of Association and Article 31: Leisure, Play and Culture. They talked about how they would feel if they couldn’t play with their friends, attend after school clubs and ways in which they relax.
Class 2 considered the thoughts, feelings and wishes of children and why children should be taken seriously. They thought about their own wishes for the future, some examples included “I wish to be able to ride a unicorn”, “I wish to be a doctor, ballerina and teacher when I grow up” and “I wish for my family to have lots of money to buy a house”.
Class 3 looked at Article 29: Goals of Education and Article 23: Children with a Disability. They created a picture of one way their education helps them develop their talents.
Class 4 looked at what it means to be a Humanist and the different rights of children and how UNICEF support children.
