Eid-Al-Fitr - 17th May 2021
On Monday 17th May 2021, the whole school celebrated the Muslim festival of Eid-al-Fitr. As Ramadan draws to a close, this festival marks the end of a month of fasting from dawn to sunset, as well as spiritual reflection and prayer.
Each class took part in different activities:
Class 1 made lanterns and crescent moon & star symbols. They created Islamic patterns, using 2D shapes, which can be found on a prayer mat. Using playdoh, they created treats for their role play of planning and attending a party.
Class 2 explored what Islam is and made an Islamic keep-sake box adding reasons why Muslims observe Ramadan.
Class 3 looked at why food is important at Eid-al-Fitr. They explored Ramadan so they could understand the importance of Eid-al-Fitr and created Islamic tiles using computer software.
Class 4 looked at the meaning of Eid, comparing it to the Christian religion. They created their own poster of the Five Pillars of Islam and wrote a brief description of the meaning of the Five Pillars.
