School Closure Information

Closing the School in an Emergency
Excluding holidays and staff training days, school will only be closed in extreme circumstances, such as:
1. Blizzard conditions, heavy snow, blocked roads
2. Loss of heat and power
A decision to close the school will be made by the Headteacher in consultation with the Chair of Governors, if available.
Notices will be posted at the school gate, on the school website and in severe weather, announced on the following radio stations: Radio Norfolk, The Beach and Radio Heart.
The Norfolk Website also has details ( and Norfolk County Council now offer a subscription service for you to receive notifications by text message or email for disruptions to specific services, eg schools. Sign up to receive a notification when a school is closed: pick your school and enter your email address or mobile phone number. If you sign up for text messages, you will first get a subscription message asking you to reply to it with the code NCC, in order to confirm your request. Once you have replied, you will then receive a second message confirming success.
Please note there is a cost of 25p per alert to receive school closure notification by text message.
Should your child be at school and closure is necessary, then you will be contacted by telephone. Please ensure that your contact details are kept up to date.
